WORSHIP & MUSIC
Brief History
Under the direction of our pastor, Dr. Robert W. Trice, this ministry was initially established so that all singing groups in the church would be able to participate in the installation service for Pastor. Out of this ministry the Combined Choir was born comprised of all singing groups that were ministering in music at Abyssinia Baptist Church. There were some challenges in the beginning but with persistence and dedication and The Lord we were able to over come. After the installation of the pastor those groups under the Music and Performing Arts Ministry umbrella were re-energized with their individual ministry leader. Those groups are The Combined Choirs, The Voices of Praise, The Sons of Jacobs and the Abyssinia Singers. One year later The Liturgical Dancers were formed with a new name, the Angles of Praise, and recently the youth and young adult choir made their debut.

Conclusion Perhaps the greatest lesson is knowing that its God’s Will and Plan that must be our focus and not our own. Those who remain and those who come will be constantly reminded that the dream is really a “Vision” and the Visionary is sent from God, for such a time as this. Here at Abyssinia, we seek God through each other, we find Him in each other, we share Him with each other and we serve Him by serving each other.
